Backups are the last line of defence against hardware failure, floods or fire, the damage caused by a security breach or accidental deletion of data. Ask yourself what would happen if you lost all your critical business data, how long would it take you to recover? How much disruption and delay would occur?
Backups protect you against: -
Hardware Failure/Accidental file deletion/Theft & natural disaster/Catastrophic virus or spyware infections. Backup tips
- Plan for the worst case.
- Keep your data in a central location
- Backup all data but not programs or operating systems
- Restore some data to make sure the backup system is working correctly
- Keep some old backups rather than continually recycling the media
- Don’t keep the backups with the computer
- Use rewritable media such as tapes or disks
